I also have this problem. It appears to randomly occur when I am away from the computer. It doesn't occur every time the display goes to sleep.
It seems to happen more frequently since the latest kernel update I just installed. This is on my Dell Latitude E4310 using integrated graphics on a Core i5 m520. Is upstream still looking for dumps?
