Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I have a Dell e6410 laptop (display resolution is 1440x900) plugged on a
docking station and connected to an external 22" monitor (whose
resolution is 1680x1050). I have a problem using the external monitor:

Ideally I would like to use only the external monitor but if I switch
off the laptop display in "monitor preferences", the external monitor
goes into power saving mode, the laptop display goes black and there's
nothing I can do but restart the laptop.
