Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

External display using the digital Display Port (and adapter to DVI) is not
working. VGA output is instead working fine. Display Port output worked once,
apparently for no reason (just unplugging and plugging again for a few times),
but never worked any more. Booting with/without the external display connected
(or on/off) does not make any difference.
The laptop screen is detected as DP1, but no external display is found. The
output of xrandr -q follows:

Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1366 x 768, maximum 8192 x 8192
VGA1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
DP1 connected 1366x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 309mm x
173mm
   1366x768 60.1*+ 40.1
HDMI1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
DP2 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
HDMI2 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
HDMI3 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
DP3 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
DP4 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
