ooooookay, guess what the problem is: I have a "Microsoft Digital Media
Keyboard 3000" with some nice mediakeys like Play, Pause, Volume Up /
Down, etc, which is attached to my laptop. If I press any of these
mediakeys, my left mouse button is not working anymore (right
mousebutton and wheel are fine though). However, if I press the
mediakeys on the laptop itself: no problems at all.

Mouse is a Logitech Revolution MX, all Mediakeys are mapped to the
default XF86-Actions in the shortcut editor.

Anyone seen that behavior before (or any hints on how to debug this one
further)?
