Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Not sure if it's xorg or drm bug. Doesn't depend on kernel version:
reproduced on stock 10.04 kernel and all newer kernels for lucid from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/.

My motherboard: Asus P5B-VM
Running Ubuntu 10.04.1, 2.6.34-020634-generic x86_64

Several months ago, after one of updates from xorg-edgers, sudden system deaths
begun.
Death sympthoms:
- picture on display freezes, mostly during compiz desktop slide-switching or
opengl screensaver running, rarely during zoom
- most times kernel even doesn't react to magic key combination (sometimes it's
still responses to SysRq+R,S,U,B)
- nothing about kernel panic or some errors in logs (after successful emergency
sync,unmount,reboot)

Making some expirements these months, I found out, that DVMT bios settings
directly affects this issue.
I think, video driver or DRM have problem with video ram area configuration,
and this causes video adapter to write to kernel memory.

Because of bug in apport, I was unable to send report using ubuntu-bug.
Tell if some system information required.
