Gursimran, here you are. Really does seem to be a kernel regression.
I ran evtest in a vty and then pressed buttons 1, 2, and 3 above and below the 
touchpad.

I'll test in which kernel version from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/ the regression was introduced...
