You have been subscribed to a public bug: It is not possible to run Xorg with Intel driver on my Intel 82852/855GM graphic card (I have similar problems with this graphic card at leas since Ubuntu 9.10). Ubuntu runs fine with Vesa driver (of course without acceleration). The Xorg server freezes shortly after start leaving computer with still image on monitor and moving mouse cursor. The Linux kernel is still responding (ssh, sysrq), but after restarting Xorg computer freezes completely.
