Tom posted a new comment: I found a lead from HongKong or somewhere that can plug into a hard- drive so that you can plug the drive into a usb port and it only cost about £20 including postage :) I'm not sure if taking the side off would cause problems like that. I can't imagine not taking the side off but that might indeed be a problem! Can i just check how far we have ot here? We've used a LiveCd session to install Ubuntu as a dual-boot and got multimedia working by going through https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Medibuntu and everything is pretty much working.
