New question #76456 on Ubuntu:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/76456

Okay so I am installing xubuntu hardy on my moms laptop
It is a TOSHIBA SATELLITE A105 With an intel 945GM
And I have HUGE fonts on the login screen and after I login

The laptop is completely un usable - when the fonts are huge I cant even
navigate anywhere much less trouble shoot.

When I plug a secondary display in and ctrl+alt+bk sp it detects the second
screen and then BAM both monitors display correctly and I can login

I read and read and read so many forums to find the solution to this problem
and everyone says its DPI .. well in my case changing the DPI does nothing.

As soon as I unplug the secondary monitor and log out the fonts go right back
to being HUGE!!
I am getting really frusterated ... *sigh*
What really confuses me is this -> I am using a laptop -> with pre configured
specs that are publically available -> built by a major manufacturer -> using a
version of linux with long term support -> having what seems to be a common
issue -> and yet there is no workable solution available :ยด( what the f

anyways I tried the DPI fix and like I said it didnt work

I also memorized the keyboard steps to adjusting the DPI (as there is no way I
can actually navigate) had the secondary monitor unplugged the entire time -
logged in changed the dpi to 96 (i even tried down to 24) logged back out and
logged in again and the issue is still there.

So I guess what is happening is that xfce is not detecting the laptop monitor
correctly and is assigning a max image size that is way way to big. er something

I might be wrong but either way I do not know how to fix this.

Someone please help me!
