New question #77214 on Ubuntu:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/77214

i'm a bit of a newbie to Linux, but just got Ubuntu 9.04 recently, have been
slowly trying to get everything up and running and my graphics card (radeon HD
4850) was next on the list. At first it couldn't seem to find the directory,
after browsing and doing some research i've got it launching... but it keeps
failing to extract.

I have the driver renamed to ati.run

n...@nikk-desktop:~$ sudo sh ./ati.run
Created directory fglrx-install.NwmWXY
Verifying archive integrity... All good.
Uncompressing ATI Proprietary Linux Driver-8.62..............
..................................
......
...............................Extraction failed.
.Signal caught, cleaning up

Any ideas? Thanks in advance
