Have you tried closing all openoffice apps (including the stupid speed
up thing) then running:
mv ~/.config/.openoffice.org ~/.config/.openoffice.org_old
Then relaunching the app?
Your system is fine enough. 2.8Ghz + 2.5Gb RAM should be fine. My 1.6Ghz
+ 1Gb RAM run it fine
