Question #78085 on Ubuntu changed: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/78085
S.Vikash Koushik proposed the following answer: Hi You don't have to remove Ubuntu.I have a solution that will help you to show the the thing "that asks you with which operating system you want to work with" which is known as GRUB. As you said you have two hard disk. One of them has Ubuntu and the other has XP.Now what must have happened is that in the BIOS the primary booting device must have been set to the hard disk that contains XP. Now just change it to the hard disk that contains UBUNTU.Save the settings and reboot. Now you will be able to see GRUB that will ask you which operating system you want to use. Since Windows XP will not recognise the UBUNTU partition, you will not be able to see the files on that partition. You can install a software called as explore2fs that will read the UBUNTU partition.
