I websearched:
ubuntu ASUS X59GL
and there are a slew of issues unfortunately. I suggest you try the -30
kernel to see if it improves. If you run:
dmesg | grep -i acpi | less
you will see what is going on. Guess you will have to wait for a fix to
be released.
