What kind of videos and what codec pack did you install?
If you want commercial, encrypted, DVDs to play than you need to install
the Medibuntu Repository and get: libdvdcss2
Instructions for installing Medibuntu here:

Note that it is a 2 part installation 1) Install repository 2) Get GPG
key
