      Ok... check the Xorg log file(s) at /var/log/Xorg*.log and see if 
anything unusual is in that.  (It's a text file, if you're not familiar with 
it, so you can read it with any text editor or just use the "more 
/var/log/Xorg*.log" command at a command prompt if that's your preference).
     In particular, check for any lines starting with ww (warning lines) and 
check the modeline entries to make sure they show the resolutions you are 
looking for with each monitor.
     I'm wondering if you might need updated (Linux) drivers for anything, in 
particular your video card or chip, and if updating that (or those) might give 
you what you want.
