Question #78229 on Ubuntu changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/78229
Status: Needs information => Open
LEGOManiac gave more information on the question:
I'm not entirely sure what you mean by the "ssh command"? Do you mean
the command I used during an SSH session to shut down the computer? If
so, these were the commands I listed earlier:
sudo init 6
... for example, simply puts up a message that the computer is going
down for a restart now (I may be confusing it with "sudo reboot") but
nothing happens.
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart
... puts up two lines - the first one says that it is stopping gdm [OK]
, the second one says that it is starting gdm [OK]
but again, there's no change on the local terminal.
