Question #78604 on Ubuntu changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/78604
Ville Aine proposed the following answer:
This appears to work:
1) Enable Automatic Login normally from System / Administration /
Login Window
2) Replace /etc/pam.d/gdm-autologin with /etc/pam.d/gdm (e.g. "sudo cp
/etc/pam.d/gdm /etc/pam.d/gdm-autologin")
You probably want take a backup copy of /etc/pam.d/gdm-autologin first,
though ;)
I only tested this once on a Jaunty box, so I don't if it causes trouble
in the long term, but I think I'm going to use this setup myself from
now on.
