Perhaps it might be better to install and use "clamav" instead?  I
prefer it, it's the one i use.  Avg have become too large and corporate
i think - which is exactly not something you want from an anti-virus.
Clamscan is easy to use from the command line but it might be worth
getting their gui front-end too "clamtk"
