Tom proposed the following answer: Hi again :) The first question is do you already have an Ubuntu Cd? If not order one through shipit and/or make your own one. Then boot up from the Cd to a LiveCd session and see how well that works on your machine. Usually it's fine so then install as a dual-boot so that you can keep going back into Vista until you've got used to our strange linuxy ways ;) https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WindowsDualBoot Please don't expect to fully understand everything in linux straight away.
