hello I have learned from Mozilla QA team that the Funambol addon for Thunderbird advertised on U1 wiki is crashing often for many users. It was never released officially because of stability issues but demand is so high that links to the binary builds spread (in fact, they made it to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuOne/Tutorials/Contacts#Sync%20Thunderbird%20contacts). The current maintainer of the software doesn't have enough time to fix the issues.
That project is looking for new developers and a maintainer.
