Title:
Cannot get MIDI input and output at the same time

Status in musescore package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: musescore

After a lot of fiddling and searching, I have managed to get both MIDI
input and output to work in Musescore, but not at the same time.

To get MIDI output to work, I have to run jackd, and make a connection
from the MScore output channel to the MIDI input channel (this is not
very user-friendly; would it be better to compile libportmidi support
  into the Ubuntu version?).

To get MIDI input to work, I have to disable Jack MIDI output in
  Musescore's preferences.

Hence, both work, but not at the same time.

I am very pleased with the look of Musescore; I've spent a ridiculous
amount of money on Sibelius over the last 16 years, and it would be
lovely if my latest upgrade, to Sibelius 6, could be my last...
