@imarc Yes, the bug persists and is still a nuisance (LyX 2.3.6.1, Ubuntu 20.04, latest updates)

LyX only saved cursor position once. very next time when I open files (I keep several files open in the same session), cursor position never changes, it's restored to the value where it was first saved. That means that corresponding strings in ~/.lyx/session are never updated (I checked that) once written.
