You have been subscribed to a public bug: Manual login screen stopped appearing, apparently after update to lightdm-gtk-greeter.
Instead of requiring a password as per usual, the system logged-in automatically. This is a security risk to anybody for whom it is vital that password log-in is maintained at all times. The update to lightdm-gtk-greeter occured on 26 August. I have attached logs to show subsequent refs to lightdm. A fix was provided here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/451950/how-to- configure-lightdm-to-allow-manual-logins-in-ubuntu-14-04 It seems the update removed the line from /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/10-ubuntustudio.conf that governs whether manual login runs or not. Is this sort of oversight a common failure for updates related to user security? How are we to trust it is not?
