This is almost certainly because ubiquity-dm doesn't doing sufficient session setup for Ubuntu Studio, so things like your GTK theme (not to mention background image) probably aren't getting set properly. Somebody who understands Xfce's session handling reasonably well could probably tackle this; unfortunately, that somebody is not me! We'd take a patch, though.
