It seems to be about using "Universal-USB-Installer-1.9.0.6.exe" ...
this program seems to change something important on the install-media.
See bug #1039211 and Bug #1039336

I just made a installation where I created the usb-stick with
"unetbootin-windows-578.exe" ... and this way it also takes about 25
minutes...

Title:
usbstick installation speed very different when created in Win or
  Linux

Status in Ubuntu Studio Project:
  New

Bug description:
The speed of a full installation is very different when I create the
  installation-usb-stick in Win7 64 or in Ubuntustudio12.04...

For the whole installation it needed about double time when install-stick was
createt using ubuntustudio12.04 basic start-media-creator...
In windows I used the Universal-USB-Installer-1.9.0.6 (see
http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/ )

Time from pushing Powerbutton until I saw BIOS-Screen again after
Installation was done:
11 Min 15 Sec when I made install-stick in windows using
Universal-USB-Installer-1.9.0.6
23 Min 54 Sec when I made install-stick in ubuntustudio using standard
Startmedia Creator

and yes, I did used the (physically) exact same usb-stick...
