i think you're doing something wrong. the patches are not cumulative. the uClinux-dist-20080808.tar.bz2 tarball is always the base, and you pick 1 patch to apply.

I was hoping the file name would help make that clearer.
The first date is the master the patch is relative to, the
second the date the patch itself was generated.
