I am running uclinux 2.6.x on a freescale 5275 board.

I recently removed an item from inittab (net-snmp).

After doing so netflash has developed an error where it fails claiming
"ioctl(MEMERASE) failed, errno=5"

If I re-insert net-snmp OR ANY OTHER program back into inittab, then
netflash works just fine.

When netflash is failing I can still successfully eraseall the partition
that I am targeting without issue (and any other partition for that matter).
I have also noticed that when netflash is working that it umounts both a
/dev/mtdblock AND the ramfs, however when it is not working I see either NO
umount messages OR a umount of only the ramfs IF I happen to execute the
netflash command out of the /ver/tmp directory.

I would like to say that I suspect XYZ, however I am at a total loss of even
how to start troubleshooting this. The whole file system seems to work as
usual, I see no odd behavior in anything that I do, except when I try to
upgrade the image. If it is a flash chip issue, then why would adding a
program to inittab fix anything? I have never noticed any oddities before in
regard to flash operations.

Anyhow, any ideas are greatly appreciated as I am at a total loss here.

Thanks for your time,
Nunya
