Is it possible to help with a translation without actually knowing
anything about Eclipse? I could probably help with the Spanish
translation, but I really don't have enough free time to install
anything other than the standard installs.
I think so...the biggest help right now would be the online help system:
In paticular a translation of the getting started tutorial would be great!

To help:
0. Login to the wiki
1. Click on a page that is not translated yet (it has a + symbol)
2. The page will be created when you click on the link
3. Hit "Add" for right now, making a blank page.
4. Click on the "en" link on the top of the page to switch to the
english page.
5. Click on edit and select the english text and copy it to the clipboard
6. Click on "Cancel", and then "es" to return to the blank spanish page
7. Click on edit, paste the english text and start translating
If you download the latest release you will find that the application
includes a spanish translation. If you find any mistakes you can make
the correction in and attach the modifed file to a Jira bug report.
The translation are available as properties files in the "nl" fragments:
as an example for the info tool:
From you installation:
-
fragments/net.refractions.udig.tool.info.nl1/src/net/refractions/udig/tool/info/
You will see a file messages_es.properties.
InfoView.instructions.text=Para desplegar informacion, seleccione la
herramienta info y pulse sobre algun elemento del Mapa..
I looked at the uDig web site a couple of weeks ago but couldn't find an
answer.
If the above instructions help you then, we can add it to the developers
guide :-)
Thanks for your intersted, and anticipated involvement.
