The "button" uses some javascript hook you up with the "right" download.
What system are you on? I am on windows and it gives me a link to:
-<http://udig.refractions.net/downloads/udig-1.0.5-src.win32.win32.x86.zip>
(Which is correct).
You can also just browse http://udig.refractions.net/downloads/ for file
you are interested in.

The link to the SDK opens a page containing the 1.0.5.exe files.
Shouldn’t that link on
http://udig.refractions.net/confluence/display/UDIG/Downloads be a
downloadable file?
