Hi,
I'm begginer using Eclipse and I don't know how I can know what jobs are disturbing. I want to use Java3d classes but some jobs don't let me. When I debug my plugin I can see the threads which are running in uDig, but I don't know which is getting in the way and how I can stop it.

Perhaps you should use real heavyweight Threads for this one? Jobs are only supposed to save you time and bother and offer scheduling. Both take Runnables, so why not use Threads for now? At the very least your Java3D probably wants to exist in a Thread (and not a Job). As you get callbacks from Java3D you can start up Jobs to do the processing on the eclipse side of the fence.

I would also scan through the eclipse newsgroups and search for Java3D - since you have being trying for a while I will start this off for you ...
- nothing on the news groups
- http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=695482 - so at least someone else is trying it - http://ls10-www.cs.uni-dortmund.de/vise3d/prototypes.html - Looks to be a working plugin you can try out (so it is possible), if they have source code you can look how they do it. Plugin is named Easyviewer Eclipse Plugin

Seems to be a community site playing with these technologoies here:

And a bit of mac trouble (perhaps fixed now):

I think Java3D rocks, but my understanding many eclipse projects are going
with direct OpenGL bindings:

I assume you are signed up for Java3D because you have either a) a working app or b) no interest in playing with your own scene graph?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Jobs just wrap around threads. You can even get the thread by: job.getThread(). What jobs are getting in the way?

Hi,
I continue with the same problem: I don't know how I can manipulate the uDig's jobs. I have looked over the threads and after I have been learning the Jobs, because their management is a little bit different from the threads. But I don't obtain anything about uDig's jobs. I have searching in your website and I haven't found anything. Can you give some information? Because I can't use Java3D without stop some jobs of uDig. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
