I've just verified that the latest nightly build does not have the fix I was talking about. I'll see if I can figure out what is wrong with the nightly build and I'll email you when a new build is up.

Sorry once again, I did not download 1.1M3 released SDK but downloaded the nightly build SDK this morning. :-[
Maybe, it does not integrate your modifications.

SDK ??? I didn't release an SDK for 1.1.M3. I just tried out the uDig 1.1.M3 and it is not having the screensaver problems that we used to have when we used the SWT_AWT bridge. I'm thinking that you may have downloaded an older uDig by accident. Justin (I think) broke the build last week so we haven't been able to get an SDK release yet. I will see what I can do for that.

Hi,

I downloaded 1.1M3 SDK this morning and I still have the same problem when locking/unlocking my session !!??
When I kill the process, I can read the exception:
java.awt.geom.NonInvertibleTransformException: Determinant is 0.

Actually, I've fixed this problem for M3. We no longer use the SWT_AWT bridge because (in exact contrast to what jody just said, sorry I jody I just did some bench marks on Wednesday) the SWT_AWT bridge is really slow. So try out M3, it shouldn't have this issue any more.

Hi,

since I use uDig, I encountered a problem when my computer switch to the screen saver. When I leave the screen saver, The editor does not refresh, I just can close the map but can never reopen it. It behaves like a non reponding program. The other part of the uDig applications works well, I can manipulate views, etc. I met this problem on several computers on Windows OS (2k, XP), all Intel CPU, laptop and desktop, HP, Compaq and Nec. It also appends when I run uDig on a laptop and switch display to a beamer. I got this problem on uDig version 1.0.1, 1.0.3, 1.0.5, 1.1M2. I did not try other versions.

Is it a known bug ?

Yes and we hate it ... two works arounds:
- run in headless mode - performance will be terrible
- turn off the screen saver.

I will not the same "problem" occurs if you press Cntrl-ALT-Delete and bring up the dialog that lets you choose task manager. Both this and the login screen "kinda" block the main windows event thread, but don't really. So uDig tries to draw, and tries to draw and floods the operating system event queue.

Jesse has made a bug report, but the long term solution would be something more like pure SWT, OpenGL or Java3D (take your pick).

Cheers and sorry about the bug, If jesse responds with the bug number we can all vote for it to be fixed.
Jody
