We have a tiling renderer in the works that greatly improves this but it will not be ready this release or probably not even the next.  Simply because of the complexity of the job.  Thanks for the list of bugs for editing.  That is an area that is under constant revision right now and as soon as it is done 1.1 will be released.  Right now there is major issues with moving feature that have to be resolved before I can move on to more minor issues such as these.
