What version are you using because I just tested uDig 1.1.M3 and I can
set up a file association so I double click on a umap and it starts
udig and opens the map. I also ran it from the command line like you
did and it worked. Try out a nightly build or uDig 1.1.M3

Hi!
I made the necessary file associations.
But to test it separately I tried the following from the dos box:
D:\udig>udig \workspace\NewProject.udig\Map21.umap
Udig launched fine, but I was expecting it to open the project and map
passed.
It didn't.
Am I doing something wrong?

project map?
Hi,
The install does not make file association yet. You will have to
either:
1. Make the file associations youself.
2. Drag and drop the file on the uDig icon.
There is a bug I just found with dragging urls onto the uDig icon. I am
fixing it now so you can download a nightly build tomorrow or tonight to
get the fix. I'd recommend getting the nightly build as there have been
a log of changes since M2.

Hi! Jesse,
I have download 1.1 M2 and have tried to double click and .umap file
and have it open and display the map. It opens udig fine, but stays on
the blue opening page.
Do I need to do anything more specific like run it directly from the
command line with certain parameters of something?
Or, when you said below that you added that functionality, did you mean
something else? Do I have to develop a special plugin to make uDig
startup and display a map this way?

I've just added the functionality to uDig 1.1. I'm making a MileStone
release right now that you can develope against. I'll do the official
milestone release soon but will have something for you to play with
today.

Sorry,
My email was not very clear.
What I want to do is open a uDig project and then a specific uDig map
(with all its associated layers setup set).
For example, I tried calling uDig with the path to a .umap file, and
hoped it would open the correct project and uDig map for me, but I
just
got the dialog to pick a data source.
Is this possible. Or is it possible for me to make it happen with a
plugin?

If a parameter is a url or a path to a shapefile a map will be opened
containing that map. Also if you are on windows and you drag and drop
a
url or a shapefile on the icon it should startup and open a map
displaying that resource.

Does the uDig.exe take any arguments?
I need to be able to launch uDig and have it open a specific map in a
project automatically from another Java app.
Can I do that now.
If not, would I be able to write a plugin to do that easily, or would
I have to modify your base code?
