I managed to edit the geometry of my features, but when I came to try to add a new feature, I can design it but the commit doesn't work: nothing is written on the database.
Is this case covered by Walkthrough 2?
Besides that, the feature count on the layer is wrong: I have one feature (one row in the database) but uDig tells me zero.
Can I ask what version of GeoServer you are using? Since the WFS protocol does not allow for notification you may need to hit refresh?
Is there something wrong I've missed? I'm confident my FeatureType was configured correctly on GeoServer (and all tests I can think of are working fine) and the DescribeFeatureType response is correct. I've read other posts in this list talking about problems on ESRI WFS. Maybe the WFS support of uDig is still alpha-quality?
The WFS support is dependent on the GeoTools project, although the uDig project did start the ball rolling. As part of OWS3 we have produced an improved GML parser but have not had sufficient time/resources to make this available to the GeoTools community yet. The WFS DataStore is maintained however so if we can identify your problem we can make a fix available.
As I said, my company is committed to using uDig in its solution, and we're willing to actively collaborate in the uDig community both with testing and with bug-fixing (and I hope with some enhancement released under the LGPL too).
Wonderful, we are very open to collaboration and have a community svn space to facilitate this. You may also consider talking to Refractions Research if something more formal is to your liking.
We're still in the "study" step, but I count to start the real development work in a couple of weeks (one of the first things we plan to do on uDig is an italian localization: I hope we will can discuss about this soon).
Great! I trust you have found that documentation on how to localize, when the time comes I can also set up a "space" for translation of line help on the wiki.
Thank you for any interest and Best Regards,
Cheers,
Jody
