Hi Jody Et Al,
I do remember visiting the OSSIM Web Pages (http://www.ossim.org/)
before, (probably a pointer from this list)... Anyway, I wonder if the
next step is to integrate the Grids code... Perhaps a uDIG plug in is a
good idea... Integration might be tricky whatever due to error handling,
but maybe there is already a neat solution.
Well I think we have a neat solution (see below) but until I have a
candidate library I will not know
how smart we are ;-)
Other than for data storage and retireval, the focus of the Grids code I
developed is on processing - and usually that which involves iterating
through all values and generalising regions (e.g. all cells between
specified distances).
Sweet, this would be a great candidate for use in uDig. We really do
want to provide a framework for you
to hack at your data with any library you can get your hands on.
I'm not aware of progress on GridCoverage. I'd like to follow it, but it
probably has a different focus... How would I know? Unfortunately I
don't have much time for any of this work right now, although I have a
bit...
If you have any advice/pointers it will be much appreciated.
1. Well the first step would be to ask Richard how the new GeoTools
catalog interface look :-)
2. The second would be to ask for svn access and create a directory in
community
One thing we missed in the uDig IResolve interface was the ability for a
plug-in developer (ie you) to add extra
tricks to a catalog handle (ie a coverage file).
The extra trick being the ability to create one of your Grid classes so
your plugin code's operations can
hack at it.
At the end of the day there should be two classes to write:
- Some kind of AdapterFactory plugin that can convert a URL (or Map of
params) into your Grid Class
- An operation that operates on a Grid and does something, perhaps a
histogram would be a good start?
Cheers,
Jody
