Trying to think what to do about the file until then. Hmmm. Why do
you need to regenerate it? Is there a bug with adding features maybe?

Yes, something related to that. I have to add points in some layer in a
programmatically way. People insert new coordinates by hand or with a
input files.
For that reason I use GeoTools and try to delete the FIX file. If this
is deleted all is working fine, otherwise the layer cannot be rendered.

I try to delete it when needed, but sometimes the file is locked by
the filesystem so it is not deleted
What do you mean with 'bug report'? I'm happy to help if possible.
