I donwloaded the nightly uDig build and here is what I found:

1) PostGIS layers are now all rendered correctly, even the generic Geometry
type gets rendered perfectly.

2) WFS are rendered correctly: polygons, points and lines. However, the icons
in the uDig legend are all line icons. This is absolutely no problem though. In
the Properties Window they all have type Geometry while PostGIS stores
them in the correct geometry type. Well not totally because PostGIS uses
MULTIPOLYGONS instead of the MapServer POLYGON type. Maybe this
confuses uDig somehow. POINT type is also rendered as Geometry.

3) Raster import doesn't work. Is the nightly build what you call "trunk"?

Anyway, nice to see uDig is in active development. Thanks for this great tool!
