Hey Gabriel,

with friends to whom I have suggested it. If you don't know it, one of
the things it does is have 2 modes of interaction with each object- a
whole object mode and a 'vertex' mode. That duality seems really
important for the editing tools going forward. Anyhow, I would love to
have an update on your thinking,
Thanks for the nice way of expressing that Adrian; having two high level "modes" to switch between and then being consistent with it is exactly the kind of thing we need to figure out.

More random thoughts:
- Inkscape does have some additional modes (like the shift example for enabling "horizontal or vertical" snapping), but that is not nearly as important as the whole/part duality.
- In a GIS application we may want "shift" == SNAP in any and all contexts?
- I would like to keep some kind of navigation around when editing. Example: The scroll wheel (and the + / - keys) used to control zoom while editing. It may be handly if the zoomed went to the selection (or cursor?) rather than the center of the screen.

Cheers,
Jody
