I have been able to confirm that Eclipse 3.3 fixes the "visual
downgrade" problem on windows Vista. There was one conflict in our
net.refractions.udig.libs project (we included xerces as a jar and now
it is avaialble as a PDE plugin).
I am committing the change; the next SDK release will have Eclipse 3.3
in it. You can continue to develop with Eclipse 3.2 as your development
environment; the uDig SDK is your target environment.
