Went through the steps again in slow motion... turns out that after the
commit the new polygon is being added twice. Selecting the polygon shows
two rows high lighted in the table view.
Polygon creation - we are having Twins!

1. Create a polygon
2. Make sure to commit because this is a shapefile
3. Switch to the Delete tool
4. Click on the feature
5. Map goes blank, so hit refresh, feature is still there
4. Click on the feature
7. Yeah it is gone and Table view shows it gone.
(Yes step 4 happens twice - that is the knock)
