Would a project to build a superset of the two consoles be a good idea?
Perhaps we need to start by reviewing each others consoles. Once I've seen
Andrea's, perhaps I want to trash mine :-)

I also have two other ideas for uDIG plugins, which I've partly prototyped
but needs more work:
- support for GeoJSON (currently I used GeoJSON from a REST resource to get
network data into the dekstop)
- support for RSS or JSON feeds from Yahoo! Pipes. (basically the same as
above, but using a different JSON)

I use a custom renderer, but I think for standard support we should also
support SLD's.
