Jessy, I remember a thread we discussed a bit in the past about it : http://lists.refractions.net/pipermail/udig-devel/2011-March/019475.html
<http://lists.refractions.net/pipermail/udig-devel/2011-March/019475.html>I guess a build would fail if the javacSource and javacTarget are set to 1.5 and some users checked in Java 6 only code (like @Override) - that's why I posted the message above. Are you talking about the platform or the community modules? but I agree, the Eclipse IDE don't show you any problems at all, especially if the JRE is set to 1.6, the plugin/feature product export would not fail. The headless build does with the shared.properties mentioned above! But the values for the two are already upgraded to 1.6 But I'm a bit confused about the jre in uDig home folder, after install its 1.6.0_17 (java -version). And how about udig for mac? Long story short, 1.6 would be/is already great.
