I'm finally starting to have a look at this, and have made it through the basic
tycho build and installation. I've also stolen your root pom and platform/sdk
configurations to start tying things together. I've managed to get various
modules to build, but have been hung-up with environment issues long enough to
get distracted. Hopefully tomorrow I'll have time to sort those and get a
larger build running. I'll let you know how I go, and as always any wisdom,
especially in the area of debugging, is welcome :)

Subject: Re: [udig-devel] headless maven build with tycho

Yes. We are using Tycho to build our udig-based application AWE. Last October
one of our developers, Rahul, wrote a udig-sdk build on gitorious at
https://gitorious.org/~rahul/udig/tycho-udig-platform, and we were running a
daily build on our hudson server. We have not touched it since then, and
undoubtably there would need to be work to get it back online again. Rahul is
no longer working with us, but our plan has been to re-activate this work when
we port AWE to udig-1.2

The plan to port to udig 1.2 has been scheduled for 'next month' for over half
a year now, so it is not clear exactly when we will get to it. I've cc'd
Nikolay Lagutko on this mail, since he is the AWE development manager, and the
one in charge of the plan to port to udig 1.2. Hopefully we do this soon.

Hi Mark:

We were going over build options last week; and I was surprised to find you
looking into the headless ANT build scripts (this is how Jesse handled things
for our build box at Refractions).

The maven 3 based build that Craig had some success with was called Tycho; he
is the third development team I have met having success with this technique -
and the only one that has offered to help on udig-devel. My understand is that
it is fairly easy to get a build of the "udig sdk" up using this technique; and
as long as the tests are run as part of that I would be pretty happy.

Here is one example of its use:

Has anyone else here had success with Tycho?
