Palette is ready; for at least a snapshot; currently. I also want it out of the
way so that the CDO work can merge in.

How about 1.3 be the new palette; and we can update the docs (since all the
pictures need to be changed); by the time that is completed I hope the CDO work
can merge in so we have a solid 1.3 on two levels (visually and
programatically).

That was due to a slightly different reason; we had fallen off the geotools
train and it took a long time to get back on it (and several times we got close
- only to get busy and watch it drive out of site again). Due to the api
changes in geotools we were unable to rescue all the work done in 1.1; although
if there is anything you really want we can go through the effort of swapping
to the "new" feature model.
For both palette and CDO the work is happening at the uDig level; so the
ability to release / rollback / test etc is completely in our hands.
