I am starting to fill in ideas (and RFCs) for a bit of a Roadmap. If anyone is interested please add to the following pages (as they are still in draft form and will be submitted as an RFC around a week before being implemented). The bigger picture here is overhauling the presentation and workflow of the uDig tool system; all without asking people to change their tool implementations :-)
