Hi Jody, all, that has now bee solved with a commit a couple of minutes ago.
Thanks to Jody, who pointed me to the proper maven geotools pom snippet, we now have the tools jar downloaded if it doesn't exist also when running from commandline. That should make us all get some good sleep.
