Hi Jody, Everyone

You should likely hear something from Wayne re: feedback on the proposal for uDig soon.

The JAI fragments item, do you mind if I ask what that is? Perhaps related, our IP team did express concern about JAI's license saying it is something they would normally reject given the reverse indemnity for Sun (Oracle). Obviously if there's a technical alternative, that's good. If not, we can start discussing what our options are.

Thanks again, and thanks again for the work on the proposal & in advance for the EPL changes.

Andrew

It is always fun writing an email with the subject line "roadmap" … we have not had project meeting in a while so here is an unofficial "roadmap" please feel free to contribute if you know of more work underway.

SEPTEMBER

Document View
- Naz looks to finish up next week
- Moovida to Review

eclipse project license (EPL)
- change headers and update license.html files
- Gain: provides a consistent story for RCP developers wanting to work from the uDig SDK as a starting point
- Gain: less confusion when entering LocationTech
- no change to the biz story - any organisation adopting the uDig SDK still needs to be comfortable with both LGPL code (GeoTools) and EPL (Eclipse RCP)

LocationTech
- LocationTech proposal is "ready" (pending feedback)
- LocationTech will be in position to review mid September (need to create a parent "gis" project or something)

OCTOBER

1.3.3 Release
- with document view and whatever other features make it
- likely the baseline we port to LocationTech?

LatinoWare
- speaking engagement for Jody

NOT SCHEDULED

Update to Eclipse 4.0
- Provides a strong visual new look
- We are ready now (i.e. 1.4.0?)
- Would make a visual statement for "new" product launch on LocationTech (i.e. org.locationtech.udig version 1.0.0)

Rendering improvements
- Jesse has not reported back?

JAI Fragments:
- I understand the proof of concept worked; can we schedule this?
