Yes an IService would be much better. The gui is indeed not intuitive for normal users. For my work I'll need to programmatically export some online data to spatialite for local storage and import them back, all these behind the scenes. I could use the datastore directly, but I might create some specialized IService. So I guess I'll be quite close in creating a general spatialite IService. I'll let you know how it goes.
