Negative number are OK. But there was a bug in 3.1.0 (and maybe in
3.0.1),
which caused incorrect storage of negative numbers. So, if you indexed
your site with old version, please install new one and reindex.

Probably you do not use Charset command in HTML template and
indexer.conf.
