Thank you all for your information, the rapidity of your respective
responses is very much appreciated!

Currently, we have a scenario where two USB modems are plugged in to a
single machine. Both of the modems are detected properly by the driver,
and we can connect with /one/ of them, using PPPoA, without any problems
- but only one.

To illustrate further, suppose i have modem-A and modem-B. When i go
through the motions of connecting:
# pppd call <config>

The system will pick, of it's own volition, one of the two modems to
connect with (modem-A, for example). I apparently have no way of
saying, "make a PPPoA connection with modem-B /specifically/."

The problem becomes even more convoluted when we add PPPoE to the mix.
As per the documentation on the ueagle site, i am using br2684ctl to set
up a nas# connection; unfortunately, here again, i have no way of
telling the tool to bind the nas# interface with a particular physical
device. In essence, it picks the first one it sees, creates the bridge,
and that's that - any attempt to create further nas# interfaces results
in an error:

RFC1483/2684 bridge: Fatal: failed to connect on socket

I also get a new, broken nas# interface which evidently doesn't go away
until i reboot. :/

So, in summary, we're looking for a way to have two ADSL modems,
controllable specifically and individually using PPPoA or PPPoE,
connected to the same machine. They don't necessarily need to both be
connected at the same time (though that would be neat), but we do need
to be able to specify which to connect with at any given moment.

Surely, there must be a way to do this. :) We would greatly appreciate
any and all feedback on this topic. Thank you again for your responses
so far - i look forward to speaking with you further.
